Building it back up
I assumed the role of an Individual Contributor (IC) to lend an extra pair of hands to the team and to spearhead the advancement of our new brand. By immersing myself in the design process, I aimed to gain a deeper understanding that would enable me to steer both the website's direction and the development of the design system.
Our focus extended beyond mere visual design; we sought to refine the core codebase through the evolution of our design system. One particular challenge we faced was the inconsistency in versions across the design system, prompting us to devise a strategic solution.
How did we end of doing it?
Our goal was to stay close to the current design system in order to maximize its strengths and efficiency. We worked from the inside out to ensure that the changes we’re suggesting are both feasible and likely to be implemented.
Our emphasis is on maximizing small changes (like colors and fonts) and applying them in a cleaner and more consistent way. We brought these small changes to life through balance, composure, visual hierarchy, and consistency.
